Welcome to Mortgage and Lending Basics

Welcome to Mortgage and Lending Basics blog. This blog will provide you with everything you ever wanted to know about mortgage and lending but were afraid to ask.

I am currently a Senior Loan Officer for Pacific West Financial in San Francisco, California. I was licensed by the State of California in January of 2003 and, after a brief stint doing 1031 exchange properties nationwide, have been helping people and companies get loans to purchase property and providing refinance strategy after the property is owned—simply if you are looking to buy or refinance a property I can help you. I specialize in jumbo loan amounts (I'll explain what they are in a later post), mixed-use properties, and major metropolitan area commercial property.

I love my job and one of the reasons I do is because mortgages and real estate backed lending is really simple. Now, I can visualize a number of you readers recoiling in horror after reading my last comment. Perhaps you have had one or more bad experiences with mortgage brokers or lenders. Maybe you thought that getting a mortgage was the single most stressful event you've endured recently. Possibly you'd rather go to the dentist than even think about the hassle you associate with getting a mortgage. Everything you've experienced or heard about getting a mortgage or refinancing a mortgage leads you to believe you'd rather be doing something entirely unpleasant. In my experience mortgage and lending becomes a giant hassle when a potential borrower doesn't get the information they need to be a participating factor in their mortgage process.

I, frankly, didn't know very much about mortgages and lending when I first started being a mortgage broker. Fortunately, it is a commission-based job and the mediocre are quickly weeded out. I learned very quickly what my job was in the process and what the borrower's job was—neither of us could get a loan without the other. And, pardon the cliché, it takes two to tango. Having the borrower be an integral part of the process was at the time fairly revolutionary. I decided to crack open the doors to the vault of arcane knowledge that mortgage brokers covet and educate my clients. So far it has worked well for us all.

Please feel free to email me with any questions you'd like to see answered on this blog. You can also call me if you think you'd like to become my client; I can do all the regular types of loans (FHA, VA, Fannie Mae) specialize in jumbo loan amounts, mixed-use loans, and have some really excellent commercial programs available. You can email me at america3@gmail.com. Or call me on my cell at 415-830-3537.

Feel My Cutting Edge: Alternative Holidays

The holidays suck. Corporations have shanghaied the traditional holidays. Hipsters have ruined the cooler holidays by association. College students and other sundry alcoholics overrun any outdoor event or summer holiday. We need some new innovative holidays. Want some holidays fresh from the box and still smelling new? Try this on for size.
The Blessed Rainy Day marks the end of the monsoon season in Bhutan; the date is somewhere in late September, usually between the 22 and 26. This day all the water in the entire country becomes sanctified and all the citizens are encouraged to celebrate by taking a bath outdoors. The water supposedly washes away all the bather’s bad karma. The people of Bhutan on The Blessed Rainy Day collectively bathe outdoors at 4pm.
o Celebration Ideas
o Try giving a party in your backyard for all your friends. Utilize your hose to save money.
o Arrange a block party around a neighborhood fire hydrant in urban areas.
o Try an intimate and adventurous Blessed Rainy Day for two at hot springs.
o Gift Ideas
o A nice body sponge or luffa is always appreciated
o Eco-friendly soaps and body lotions
o Monogrammed towels add a special touch
Have a non-exploited holiday you want to share?
